NOSE

External structure : Made of nasal bones and cartilages upper and lower lateral cartilage. Central cartilage n bone for septum whitch the nose in two cavities.
Function : Cosmetic appearance, filtering air, warming of air, smell.
Pathology: Damage to shape, DNS, block nose due to mass. Polyps, big turbinate forign body

SINUS : THESE ARE CAVITY IN THE FACE BONES . THEY ARE CONNECTED TO NASAL CAVITY AIR BY THEIR OPENING CALLED OSTEUM.

FRONTAL SINUS : This is the cavity in the frontal bone aereated by cleft in the lateral wall of nose called middle meatus.
Pathology : Sinusitis, polyps, mucocele, fracture, tumor etc.

Maxillary sinus : Cavity in the cheek bone. aerated by middle meatus cleft via maxillary osteum.
Pathology : Sinusitis, polyp, cyst, tumor, etc.

Ethmoid Sinuses : Located in between two eyes on either side of septum . in two groups; ant ethmoid and post ethmoid separated by middle turbinate.
Pathology : Sinusitis, Polyps, Tumor etc.

Sphenoid sinus : Located behind post ethmoid in the midpotrion of skull. Aerated by osteum in the superior meatus.
Pathology : Sinusitis polyps , tumors etc
